Our Financial Goal for 2021

Our aim is to empower low income individuals to produce items from which they generate income, improve the quality of their lives, the environment and the lives of those in our communities. People helping people leads to success.

We help empower people to gain self-esteem; self-confidence and motivation to succeed also intensify. Other benefits include improved mental and physical well-being with the prospect of earning a living wage and attaining a sense of self-worth by coming off government support.

Overcomers United aims to raise funds in order to issue grants and honour individuals, groups, and organizations that make a real and lasting difference in our communities.

We expects the recipient(s) to pay it forward. For example: by hiring a low income individual(s) in the future.

We support those that are low income and in need, especially, if they have a craft or skill.  For example, we are helping a refugee who studied to be a tailor in Ghana but could not afford a sewing machine.  He reports that every time he applies for a job they require Canadian experience.  Unfortunately, unless someone hires him he will not be able to get that experience.  We were able to assist him by giving him a donated sewing machine and advising him to go to another community agency where he will be able to volunteer and upgrade his skills.  This person needs a job because his rent is over $900 per month for a bachelor apartment.  He does not receive that much from Ontario Works.  Furthermore, he also needs to support his family back home.

Want to help? You can either donate money and or items that we can then sell to raise funds on our Facebook group: G.T.A. United Buy/Sell site.

We are looking for items in good condition such as gift baskets, collectibles, jewelry, art, quilts, crocheted and knitted items, gift certificates, electronics, video games or other types of games, LEGO sets, model tractors, décor items, clothing, gym memberships, sports memorabilia, high-end clothes, and accessories.

We love building connections within our communities, so please help us by spreading the word.
