I thank every person that fought or participated in a war whether it was on foreign soil or on home ground. I imagine it took a great deal of courage or ignorance to fight in a war that you did not call or a battle that you did not believe in but were forced to fight.
My heartfelt gratitude goes out to you for your service. In most cases, this meant leaving behind family members and friends. In other cases, some were not able to see their children being born or grow up. This situation may have placed a distance in their family that only time may change.
I am especially grateful to the returning service men that came back from wars and could not find their place in the homes that they had left but are trying to make the best of it.
This gratitude is even more so for the service men that were not greeted by a parade upon their return and are having a hard time re-adjusting to their environment.
